France and Aruba

It has been a while since I last wrote something in my diary, but it has been a busy period. As I said before: I started training. I do more and more every week. In the beginning of October I have been in France for 10 days to visit Rudy's family. I did not see his parents for almost 4 months due to circumstances. I trained well in France and after that ten days we went back to prepare for our family holiday to Aruba.

Because my parents were married for 30 years last may they invited us (children plus Rudy and the girlfriend of my brother) for a holiday. So I just spend 8 days on Aruba in the warmth.

I trained as well on Aruba, mainly very early in the morning because on other times it was too warm.

From now on training starts seriously now. The build up is over and the hard work starts again. I'm actually looking forward to it.

I'll keep you in touch

It's going well

Althoug I haven't done a lot of serious training, I started some conditioning stuff. Weights are already on the programm although I haven't trained with loose bars yet (mainly multi gym). I started the medicin ball work and the fartleck and jogging session. In other words: very very boring. But it doesn't kill me, it makes me stronger.

Yesterday I did my first real running session. I had to run 4x400 (in 80sec, which is pretty slow). It went well untill I started to feel my achilles tendon tightening up. My physio had warned me a few weeks ago that, because of th elack of mobility I had for 5 months, my achilles shortened a bit. So because I can start running again I need to be careful and give my achilles tendon the time to adapt to the new situation again. So after 3 runs I stopped. I wasn't really tired and my achilles feels ok now. I just have some muscle pain in my calf now.
I'm really hopefull for this winter.

That's also because I really enjoy my new study. For those who don't know: I doing a distance learninf course to become an English teacher in middle school. It's a career I want to start after my athletics career. I can combine this study easily with athletics because I can study in my own pace. So when I have time I will study, when I tired or on warm weather training I can put my study a side.

on the 23rd of October I will go to Aruba for holidays. With my parents and brother (+girlfriend) and sister and of course Rudy.
Rudy is in Tahiti at the moment. He's enjoying his time with the French team.
